Kevin Fitzhugh

Kevin's first impression of swing dance was that it resembled poetry in motion. This revelation sparked his interest in the art of this dance form in 1997, and thus began his swing dance involvement.

Because of his extensive background in competitive sports such as baseball, football, basketball, and gymnastics, swing dancing was a natural pastime for Kevin to pursue. Kevin began dancing and spending long hours perfecting his form.

He graduated from the Smooth & EZ Hand Dance Institute of Washington, DC, and has become a wildly talented choreographer. Kevin has many outstanding achievements, one of which is the award for U.S. Open Advanced Strictly Swing Champion.

Kevin has been teaching Hand Dance Dynamics in Maryland and the Washington, D.C. area at the K2 Dance studio for over four years.

He started a successful partnership with Tammy Brown in the spring of 2001, taking the dance stage by storm. Their unique style – a mix of jitterbug, hand dance and west coast swing – has accumulated numerous local and national titles, frequently placing them in the top five in major dance competitions.

Their most notable awards include the following: They hold the first place champion title for the Michigan Classic Fast Dance division. Kevin and Tammy are two-time Virginia State Open Hand Dance Showcase and Classic Division Champions. They have placed top three in many Jack & Jill, Strictly WCS, and Hand Dance & Jitterbug divisions. See Tammy's bio for more of their impressive accomplishments as a dance team.

A native Philadelphian, Kevin is also a trained and licensed master barber since 1983. Kevin's hobbies include live theater, concerts, collecting black memorabilia, riding motorcycles, and of course, dancing. Proud father of his daughter Deborah, Kevin enjoys his work as an associate of the Home Depot.
